The following is a glossary of common terms and acronyms as they are seen and used in Sword Coast Legends.

Term Acronyms Description
Armor Class AC A number representing a creature's ability to avoid being hit in combat. An opponent's attack roll must equal or exceed the target creature's Armor Class (AC) to hit it.
Ability Score One of the six basic character qualities: Strength (Str), Dexterity (Dex), Constitution (Con), Intelligence (Int), Wisdom (Wis), and Charisma (Cha).
Ability Modifier The bonus or penalty associated with a particular ability score. Ability modifiers apply to die rolls for character actions involving the corresponding abilities.
Abjuration Abjurations are protective spells. They create physical or magical barriers, negate magical or physical abilities, harm trespassers, or even banish the subject of the spell to another plane of existence.
Alignment One of the nine descriptors of morality for intelligent creatures: lawful good (LG), neutral good (NG), chaotic good (CG), lawful neutral (LN), neutral (N), chaotic neutral (CN), lawful evil (LE), neutral evil (NE), and chaotic evil (CE).
Attack Roll A roll to determine whether an attack hits.
Cantrip An arcane 0-level spell.
Charisma CHA The ability that measures a character's force of personality, persuasiveness, personal magnetism, ability to lead, and physical attractiveness.
Conjuration Conjurations are spells that bring manifestations of objects, creatures, or some form of energy to you.
Constitution CON The ability that represents a character's health and stamina.
Dexterity DEX The ability that measures a character's hand-eye coordination, agility, reflexes, and balance.
Divination Divination spells enable you to learn secrets long forgotten, to predict the future, to find hidden things, and to foil deceptive spells.
Dungeon Master DM The player who portrays nonplayer characters, makes up the story setting for the other players, and serves as a referee.
Enchantment Enchantment spells affect the minds of others, influencing or controlling their behavior.
Evocation Evocation spells manipulate energy or tap an unseen source of power to produce a desired end. In effect, they create something out of nothing.
